Executive Presence is defined by how others perceive you, in person, or through visual/audio mediums like TV and the internet. The aspects of your being that most influences others are your physicality, attitudes, and verbal communication. Right or wrong, their perceptions become their realities, and influence their thoughts and attitudes about you. Their impressions can be shaped across a variety of interactions - a handshake, a meeting, or through years of working beside you.

The key for leaders is this: 1) be clear about the Executive Presence you desire 2) be aware of any differences between it and how others actually perceive you 3) modify your behavior as necessary to achieve your goals.
